Your camera stays home.
Push for People uses your camera for one thing: counting your push-ups, right there on your phone. Here’s everything that leaves it, and everything that doesn’t.
The camera feed never leaves your phone
Nothing is uploaded, streamed or saved. Each frame is read live, then thrown away.
The counting runs on your phone
The pose model counts your reps on your device, not on a server.
Clips are made on your phone too
If you record a clip or make a story card, it’s saved to your device. You decide if and where to share it.
A copy stays here
Your sets and settings are also kept in this browser’s storage, so the counter works offline. A set finished offline waits here and goes to the board once you’re back online.
Signing in with Google
You sign in with your Google account. Google gives us your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else: never your password, contacts or anything in your account. Your profile starts with your Google name and photo. You can change both in settings.
Your email is private. It is never shown on the board or your profile page. Only the organiser can see it, and we use it only to keep your profile tied to your Google account.
What the board shows
Every set you finish is sent to our database and counted toward the challenge. Anyone can see these on the board and your profile page:
- Your name and username.
- Each set: how many reps, how many were clean, how long it took and when.
- A state, a photo and links to your other profiles, only if you add them. A new photo is shrunk to a small square on your phone before it’s sent.
If you add a gender, it’s never shown. We only use it to count totals, like how many women have joined.
Never video, never sound, never your location, and never card details.
Signing out and deleting
Signing out in settings takes your profile off this phone. It stays on the board, and signing in again brings it back. To delete your profile and every set in it, message us on Instagram from the account you used and we’ll remove it.
Limits
To keep junk off the board, the database keeps a count of requests per internet address (for up to a day) and turns away sets that are faster than humanly possible.
How many, not who
We count visits and a few steps, like the camera starting, a first rep, a set saved or a video shared, with Umami. It sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites.
What’s in a count
The page, the site you came from, your browser (and whether it’s inside an app like Instagram), device type, a rough idea of how fast it is, and country. Plus rough numbers like “10–24 push-ups” or how smoothly the counting ran. Never video, and never your name or email.
When something breaks
If the page hits an error, Sentry gets the error, the page and your browser, so we can fix it. Nothing from the camera, and nothing about who you are.
